Hi! My name is Katriya and I am 17 years old. I grew up in Zambia, Africa from the ages 2-7 as my parents were missionaries there. However, we moved back after my sister died there from a heart problem. I’ve been homeschooled my entire life and I love it because of being able to get things done on my own schedule especially now that I am older. Dwelling in Michigan, it is very pretty here in the summer but it gets a little too cold in the winter for me, even though I do love skiing. In my free time I do a lot of writing, painting, photography, and hanging out with friends. I decided to do World Race as a gap year program after high school because I love taking care of children and older adults and also love traveling and sharing the good news.  This program combined all the things that I love to do and after some prayer I decided that this was the program I needed to do. Excitedly, I’m super thrilled to get to know people in different cultures and be a part of serving them.  I’m nervous about being away from home for nine months and I know it will be a great experience to learn and grow.
